不知他是睡;
月长是个胀,
月半是个胖,
太师秦夫人,
怀抱大肚在花园逛,
不知她是胀,
不知她是胖。

If's

Bonbon blogged about 你你;我我 (Virtually means You You; Me Me in English). I'm not gonna talk about the article actually. But the final part of it where Bonbon put in a lot of 'If's' made me thought about a lot of things...

If I were born a few years later, how would my life be?
If I were living in another family, how would it be?
If I were staying in another place, how would my growing up be?
If I were to study in other secondary school, how would my study life be?
If I did not enter UKM, how would it be like?
If I got the JPA scholarship back then, where would I be now?
If I did not meet you, will I be like this?
If it weren't for you, would I be better?
If you did not come into my life, what would happen?
If you did not betray me, where would we be now?
If you were more honest, how would it be now?
If you see me now, what would be your reaction?
If I did not fell for her, would we still be hurt?
If I did not go to Sunway, would it be better?
If I stayed back, what would have happened?
If I did not choose to restart my blog earlier this year, will I meet Chien, Bonbon, krOx and the rest?
If I choose to leave, what would happen to my life?
If I were different now, what would others think?
If I change myself, would it be better?

There are so many 'if's' in our lives...
If I go out, would I bump into them?
If I had said this in the interview, would it increase my chances?
If I added oyster sauce, would it taste better?

There is an endless list of 'if's' in our lives, in the past, now and in the future..
Some of these 'if's' will make us feel bad, will make us doubt ourselves, will make us worry..
It is useless for us to harp on these 'if's' endlessly, because at many situations, these 'if's' can only happen once and will never come again.. There will not be another opportunity for you to test the 'if's' anymore..
Nonetheless, they always make us wonder how things could be if it took place..
We should try to look forward regardless of how painful or frustrating these 'if's' are, looking for a better day...

Friend or Personal Interest

Will you put your friends first or your personal interests first?

This is a question which many people will give a pretty answer but when facing the real situations will do otherwise.

I guess it is called conflict of interest.

When a person has something, and you have similar interest in owning the particular asset or venturing into his field, will he kindly share his asset or the knowledge of his field with you?

To make things clearer, let's talk about a particular scenario. For example, if you ask your classmate what type of reference books he uses, will he willingly tell you and show you what books he uses or he will just tell you some book that everyone uses but keep the extra book he has a secret?!

Let's say a friend of yours is doing PhD, and you ask him "does your professor has any vacant projects and fundings?" What will his answer be? Will he just be too proud of being a postgraduate student that he don't want you to have the chance to possess the same status and try to ignore your questions or treat you as a friend as he is supposed to be and share all the information he can with you, like "Well, I'm not, but I can ask my prof for you", "I applied for NSF, you can try that, or you can try...", or he put's his personal interest first and just ignore you and at the same time keep emphasizing how great and capable he is now being a postgraduate student by saying "If you think you can get in here easily, you are totally wrong, coming in here is all about capability, you must prove you have that knowledge and skills to come in, funding you need to find yourself, all is about you showing you are worthy to be here" which shows he has no intention in answering your question at all..

How about when you know you friend is working at a reputable company and you have interest in joining the organization and you enquire about vacancy and opportunities there. What will he say?! Will he just pretend as though he did not hear your questions and skip to another topic?

When the person you approached, assumes the situation as a conflict of interest, he will by all means try to protect his uniqueness of his asset or his status. In this very cruel world, to be successful, sometimes it's all about trying to stand out from the crowd, what you have that others don't, thus causing a person to choose his personal interest first rather than his friends. Is this right? Some say yes, some say no. People with ethics would say no. People who are practical would say yes. The question is, which side would you choose...

PS: Weisi introduced me this song, even though I don't understand the meaning, but you can feel the song from the rhythm and the tone of the singer...

Singing Judgement

After singing my first song in RedBox, I suddenly had visions of a few people giving judgement of my singing...

。要加油。。。

Dick Lee: Not bad, the problem is song choice, the key's were a little under register, the feelings are there, but you really need to be careful with song choice, i think with your voice range which is in the middle, you will be good at ballads and a certain pops, ok...

Florence: I can feel your emotions, I do agree with Dick, the song is a little too big for you, but still a good try.

Ken Lim: To succeed in the music industry nowadays, it's not always about how good you sing anymore, it's about having that X-factor or not.. I would be lying if I say you have it...

AVP2

Today went to Jusco TC with Chien, krOx and KinXing to watch the Alien VS Predator 2. This is the first time that I'm meeting KinXing.
Hehe... We started out the day with singing in RedBox. OMG!!! I must say krOx can really sing!!! Real good!!! I still don't like Jay Chou (No offence Paramesium... Hehehe...) I duet with krOx, Chien & also Loo. It was real cool!! We sang a lot of songs. A little crazy la us.. Haha... I sang songs from Tank, JJ, Zhang Shao Han, Mariah Carey, Jaclyn Victor, Lin Yu Zhong, Vanessa Williams... Really cool!!! Hehehe!!!! Got bullied by krOx again when he say the song I chose (Mariah's Love Takes Time) was not from his era so he duno how to sing.. ABUSH!!!!! Then, I chose Lin Yu Zhong's song... He cakap the song too new, so he duno how to sing oso!!! ABUSH 2x!!!!! Too old tak tau, too new oso tak tau!!! alamak!!!!! hahahaha...

Para as everyone knows is a Jay Chou fan, so he sang all the Jay Chou songs... He did duet with me in JJ's Mummy... ehehe... Chien was so eager to choose two so called good Malay songs to sing, but then when she started to sing, she duno how to sing pulak?! hehehe... weird weird de... Teddy got a strict warning from krOx & Chien not to take video of them singing... Do you guys think Teddy listened to their warning?! Hehehehe... We sang from 11am til 1.30pm... Then we went to foodcourt for Para to take lunch while the rest of us makan the RM1.00 ice cream. krOx took vanila, chien took chocolate & Teddy took mix (Vanilla + Chocolate) hehehe... COOL!!!!

After that, we went to the cinema for the 2.30pm AVP2... Had some private moments with Para to talk about something... hehehe... shhh... cannot say... bluueekk!!!! This is the review (Out of 5 stars):

Graphic: 4 stars (Nice images and detail gruesome scenes)
Story plot: Rubbish!!!! (The army mother was a bad imitation to Sirgourney Weaver as Ripley in the original Alien series), I'm guessing there will be a continuation to this AVP 2 in the future, coz if you remember, they introduce that chinese lady at the end, and left the story hanging by saying "This world is not ready for such technology - looking at the plasma gun"
Fighting: 3 star (Could have been better, the fight were all too direct, no twist, no nothing, just P hit A, A dies, the longest fight was the P fighting the mutated A containing the previous predator host's DNA, was expecting more from that too actually, come on laaa, Ripley did a better job fighting the Alien!!!)
Who should watch: Anyone who watched the original Predator and Alien sequel and also the AVP 1

While watching the movie, wana kno something funny... To my right was a Malay girl, she was like so scared of every scene when the ugly and slimey alien jumps out and punch holes into the victims head and also when the baby alien pops out of the tummy!!! She kept jumping up and shaking the entire row of chair. At the same time, Chien fell asleep during the movie!!! LOL!!! At those scary scenes, ok ok, the supposed to be scary scenes... She was like "Huh?! o_O" what happen?!" hehehe... Chien rox!!!!

After the movie, we went to computer accessory shop to shop for earphone with mic... Hehe... All Teddy's fault, coz recently, Teddy was so lazy of typing, so, Teddy keep sending voice messages to krOx, Chien, & Xing via MSN... So, now everyone wana get a mic to play play oso.. hehhe.. Thereafter, Xing had something to do, and left for home...

We continue to walk around and then we were hungry, so stop by a shop... errr forgot what shop already (but it's a chinese shop - still in Jusco), to take a teabreak, but actually dinner for me... Had a long chat with both Chien & krOx there, haha, a lot of funny things.. Then went to Lavender to help krOx 2nd Sis to buy Almond cookies. Then, both krOx and I accompany Chien to the bus stop and waited for her to get onto the bus before we head back to Jusco to drive home. Really enjoyed myself today!!! Really cool to meet KinXing who was rather quiet at the start (krOx said is 尴尬期), hehe, but later hmm ... can talk a lot oso... so fun!!! hehe.. n of course, krOx & Chien, crazy crazy de (Teddy oso a little crazy wif them, hehehe)... make the atmosphere extremely funny n cool!!! hehehe... So, Teddy really enjoyed the day with the company of three nice friends... hehehe..

Note: KinXing = Xing = Paramesium = Para = Loo (All the same guy, just I used different names, Hehehe)

Friends: Its definition

Recently Chien blogged about the meaning of 'Friend' and she looked at different definitions from various dictionaries (Malay, English & Mandarin).

What does the word 'friend' mean to you? Is it synonymous with warmth, trust, security, laughter and love?

Some of us are fortunate enough to enjoy the company of many great friends. While some of us doubt the meaning of friends.

Many will not be able to understand the latter as only the person who have undergone the horrific events would understand those feelings. They will find the meaning of 'friend' blur and unclear. They will wonder whether friends really exist in the first place.

Some of us may have been betrayed by so called 'friends', and as dramatic as it can be, it does feel like a thousand sharp knives going through your heart, doesn't it. Others may tell you that these people are not your friends in the first place, coz friends don't do such things. But then, only after such things has occured, then you know the person is not your friend?! Crap!!! How many times does one need to get hurt in order to screen out the 'real' friends then?! They will define friends as people who will be there for you through all the up and down. While the people who betray and use you are not friends or can be classified as acquaintance only.

So how should we approach this delicate issue of friendship then? Be reserved? Be cautious? But doing so, the person who are sincere will indirectly feel offended at some point, won't they?! But to be open to others, it will also mean you are vulnerable to attacks, betrayal, usage and harm.

To round everything up, the word 'friend' can be as complicated as it can be. There is no definite answer. It's all up to you. If you were really hurt by some people you once thought were your 'friends', the pain will definitely be in your heart for a very long time. And I personally think that the only way to cure the pain is by a 'friend'. But whether you will meet this 'friend' or not, or when you will meet this 'friend' is something out of our power...

Miss you most

Title: Miss you most
Singer: Mariah Carey

The fire is burning
The room's all aglow
Outside the December wind blows
Away in the distance the carolers sing in the snow
Everybody's laughing
The world is celebrating
And everyone's so happy
Except for me tonight

Because I miss you
Most at Christmas time
And I can't get you
Get you off my mind
Every other season comes along
And I'm all right
But then I miss you, most at Christmas time

I gaze out the window
This cold winter's night
At all of the twinkling lights
Alone in the darkness
Remembering when you were mine
Everybody's smiling
The whole world is rejoicing
And everyone's embracing
Except for you and I

Baby I miss you
Most at Christmas time
And I can't get you
Get you off my mind
Every other season comes along
And I'm all right
But then I miss you, most at Christmas time

In the springtime those memories start to fade
With the April rain
Through the summer days
Till autumn's leaves are gone
I get by without you
Till the snow begins to fall

And then I miss you
Most at Christmas time
And I can't get you
Get you off my mind
Every other season comes along
And I'm all right...
But then I miss you, most at Christmas time

"Pecking"

WS once use an emoticon showing two little girls kissing each other and my first reaction was "Ewww... Homo", she was like "what's the big deal? It's normal! For close friends to peck each other"

o_O" Maybe I'm too conservative...

Teddy: It's normal for close friends to do that?!
WS: Yes..
Teddy: How about guys pecking guys then?
WS: As long as it is not pecking the lips, then it is ok...
Teddy: Huh?! It's ok?!
WS: Yes! As long as it's not the lips... If they are close friends, it's ok... Nothing to do with homo..
Teddy: R u sure?!
WS: Yes...
Teddy: Do you peck your friends then?!
WS: Yes, close friends only.
Teddy: Girls rite?!
WS: Yes.. no problem at all, close friends wat..
Teddy: How about we do an experiment to test your guy peck guy theory?!
WS: Ok...
-The following conversation will not be disclosed to protect our subject identity- hehehe

Anyway, we agreed to do a test on a friend, her guy-peck-guy-is-ok theory! LOL~~~ OMG, we are crazy. I'm suppose to peck our friend (a guy) in front of her so that she can errr observe?! to see whether it is ok for guy to peck another guy?! LOL~~~ We even went further to planned that the experiment should be carried out near the hospital so that the subject can be rush to the Emergency Dept immediately, just in case if he really got emotionally shocked and faint or heart attack or psychologically unstable or something!! LOL~~~ Anyway, the experiment never took place laa... LOL~~ I seriously can't imagine what would happen to our poor little friend coz he is a very very mature and serious guy.

So, what you guys think?! Is girl pecking girl ok?! How about guy pecking guy?! I don't mean lips to lips, what WS and I meant is like pecking the forehead or cheek... What you all think?! Leave a comment plz... Just in case you guys don't understand the meaning of pecking, it means 'kissing' laa.. hehehe....

National Treasure 2

Yo! Yo! Yo! Went to watch National Treasure 2 today. And it is a must watch movie!!! The enigma of the Golden City, the suspense of the puzzle solving, the exciting actions and the humorous moments just blend together wonderfully. *Props to Bonbon who chose the movie*

Today is also the first time I'm meeting Bonbon. At the same time, I also met Jeah Loong and three others (for the first time too), which are not really strangers in the sense that I've seen them before in blog post (by Chien & krOx), they are Kensen, Jia Ler and Yau. Didn't have much of a chance to talk to Jeah Loong today. Hehe... guess we were both shy... Hehehe... Nonetheless, still happy to see the real guy in person. Fun to see the famous Kensen & Jia Ler whom I've heard a lot from Chien; and Yau another blogger too. Hehe...

After the movie, we had lunch together at the food court and went around CS before deciding to go to Pelangi as Jeah Loong wanted to buy clothes; thereafter, Bonbon, Jia Ler and I were visiting Wei Heng's house. Kensen went home immediately at that point. Bonbon accompanied me while I drove to Pelangi. Haha!! The funny thing is I haven't been to Jln Wang Ah Fook for quite sometime already, let's say 4 months, hence rather blur with roads. (I guess I'm as blur as Chien when it comes to directions) LOL~~

Side track a bit, a little coincidence, Chien was going to CS too with her friend. At first, she thought she can bump into us, but unfortunately, the moment we drove out of CS, she reached and called us. LOL!!!! So, didn't get to see her.

Second comedy, we reach Pelangi, but then couldn't find parking leh!! Then Wei Heng called saying the rest want to balik liao!!! LOL~~~ So fast!!! I haven't parked the car!!! LOL~~~ We then departed to Wei Heng's house while Yau and Jeah Loong went home.

Wei Heng gave Bonbon and me a lecture on "How to play Dota?"... Hehe... I still don't understand why Dota is so famous as the game only involves controlling the Hero while normal strategy game would require you to control Hero(es) and an army to attack the enemy. Wei Heng happily demo how to play O2Jam which is so not my forte. I don't know why la, don't ask me! LOL~~ I see the things dropping on the left but then the right finger press pulak?! Stupid Fingers!!! Hahaha... I got hold of an Astrology book in Wei Heng's room, which to my surprised was rather (in my case) accurate!!!! No kidding!!!!! Tested on Bonbon, but then way off laaa... Jia Ler helped himself to Wei Heng's comfy bed... Haha... So cute!!! We 'lepak' at his room til 6pm before we left home.

I enjoyed the outing today and most importantly I'm happy to meet very cool people. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the guys though. From the movie trip, I finally understood "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get until you open it". You know, we come across many so called "Philosophy of Life" in books and TV drama, but how often do we understand what they really mean? Sometimes we understood it theoretically, but then we only understood its true meaning in reality at a later date...

PS: Thank you Bonbon for the kind invitation...

What is your responsibility, student?

As a student, what is your responsibility? Do you know?

Get good grades? Is that it?

So, do you study hard to get good grades by yourself?! Or do you use unethical and unscrupulous methods to get them?

If an unethical and unscrupulous method is provided to you, which guarantees you good grades, will you go for it?

Is that temptation too strong for the moral values inculcated in you throughout your years of education and by your parents, and the values preached by your religion? What do you think? Will you go for it?

Well, let's admit it, there are very immoral and unethical education institution and lecturers out there, actually disclosing real examination questions to students just to make profitss through private tuitions.

Why does this happen? Because there is the demand to do so?!

How does this occur? Because there are unethical lecturers and institution all out for money?!

Why does it continue to occur? Because the students love it and will not report to the authority?!

So, the question is, will you go for it?

Having known the real exam questions, you can definitely prepare for the answers during the real exam, that equals to A right?!

So, will you pay the money for this extra-special-tuition?

Will you be proud of the A you have gotten by this method? Or you just don't have the conscience to even bother?

JB Driving Fun

While driving down JB yesterday to do my so called Christmas Shopping aka "mum mum shopping" hehe... I drove along the road which I had been using daily a few months ago.
Morning and evening on weekdays, driving to and fro to meet some people whom I needed to meet and those whom I wanted to meet..

Driving along the road does bring back a lot of sweet memory... hehehe...

Anyway, since the road has not many car, I sure press on the throttle a bit lor... hehehe... A bit only, still within speed limits, don't worry...

When I reach JB town, OMG!!! So many cars!!!! Luckily not considered jam like KL. Anyway, while queuing behind the traffic light on the hill just before the Taman Sentosa junction. Gosh! It was a long train of cars and the hill was rather big. The cars crawl in inches towards the traffic light. The ANNOYING thing is the stupid waja behind me, which keep honking me everytime the car in front of me moved a bit.

HELLO MORON!!!! I'm driving a manual car. Do you get what I mean?! If you still remember your driving test, you will need to balance the clutch and throttle to move up the hill while avoiding the car engine dying!!! It's not like your freaking auto waja which you just jam on your throttle only!! So, I can't be following the car in front every inch he moves? Sure I let him move a bit more, then I move forward laa. He moved three inches, I follow, he moved one inch also I follow meh?! Were you expecting that?! You INSANE AH!!! Sure let him move in metres laa, not inches!!! OMG!!! The moron honk at me like more than 10 times lor... Really feel like going down to slap the hell out of him!!! Slap til his nose tilt one side, one cheek red like monkey butt, eyes pop out and teeth all drop out!!!!!! Then I go tell police it's self-defense coz that moron use honking to attack me... Valid reason right?!

Then went to Pelangi, OMG!!!! The Christmas decor was rubbish!! So cheap!!! No flare, no emotion, no passion, no style!!!! Nothing!!!

Came out of Pelangi heading to Giant, I bump into another dumbo. He was on the rightmost lane, which is only for turning right but he wanted to go straight. So, he had to enter my lane, the middle (it's a three lane road in front of Crown Princess). While I was moving along the empty road at 90kmph almost passing him, WITHOUT SIGNAL, he just throw his nose out into my lane and tried to Vrrooomm away in his miserable MyVi!!!!! HELLO!!!!! I know your car is a new Myvi, use Toyota punya engine, got a lot of power but then hor, in that kind of situation where I'm already so close, driving a Bugatti Veyron also would not have enough acceleration to let you get away laa!!!! Force me to evade to the leftmost lane!!!! Luckily there was no car, if not, sure clash liao de lor!!! STUPID DRIVER!!!!! ABUSH!!!!!!!!! POKE YOUR EYES LAAA!!!!!!! You wana go mati, you go far far mati laaa, don't involve me!!!!!!

Xmas Shopping

Went to do Christmas shopping today at Giant, but then I went to Pelangi first to visit Popular and also my favorite PS2 games shop.

I went to use the washroom and saw this notice behind the toilet. What confuse me is the "Beware of Pickpocket" warning! The notice is behind the door in the individual cubicles. But if you are in the cubicle, shouldn't you be alone?!?!?!?! So, how can someone pick your pocket?! Get it?! What the hell are you doing with another guy in the same cubicle?!

Went to Popular to browse through some books. Why are there so many self-improvement books?! Are they reliable?! How can the author know what problems we have and then suggest ways to improve?!

Went to Giant and saw this... At first sight, krOx would shout out "PLAYGROUND!!!!"... That I'm sure of.. heheh... Kaichien also would do the same I think.. hehe..

Art Gallery

In my previous post on "Highway Ordeal", I mentioned about stopping at the Ayer Keroh Rest Point and visiting the gallery there while waiting for the Uncle Mercedez to pass. Took a few pictures of some pretty interesting oil paintings...

The sea turtle looks angry!! Wana eat Teddy like dat...

"Segamat Tragedy", was the title... A few years back, there were multiple reports of giant pythons spotted across many states in the Peninsular. The one in Segamat was found to be in the process of eating a adult man.

"Protrait of liars"... I wish liars are so easily identified just like the painting showing liars have green and weird distorted face...

PS: I missed Tien Tien's oil painting!!! hehe, she is so good at oil painting!!! hehehe...

Little words

The higher you are, the more humble you should be...
DFH Goh

Trust

Trustworthiness doesn't come easy. And I'm sure most of us do agree that we don't normally trust everyone we see in our daily lives. And how often can you find someone who you can share everything without worrying about being betrayed?!

Nonetheless, we do invest a small amount of trust in strangers unconsciously. How long does it last depends on the person who trust has been invested in. Right?!

Trust is a very complicated matter. How it arise and how much it grows can be rather hard to explain. Basically, we do not trust a person entirely when we first meet the person, neither do we not trust the person at all.

But what happens that allow us to trust a person a lot?! It really takes time right... How the person acts everytime we see them, the things the person did, etc, affects how much trust we can invest in the particular person.

Recently, I find this issue a rather interesting matter. Why? I told a few person something and requested that they keep the matter underwraps. It's not really a big matter actually, but then I preferred it to be silent at the moment. To my amazement, they really kept their lips sealed!!! How tightly sealed? They never told anyone, not even their bestfriends and loveones who they normally share a lot of secrets. I'm truly grateful of them and respect their integrity in protecting the secret I've entrusted to them.

On the contrary, we also get a fair share of people whom we can't trust at all. Not even the smallest matters. Coz their lips will never be able to hold the words within them. The words somehow just always slip out. And that is the sign of the trust we invested in them going 'Ker-Poof'!! Vanishing into the thin air. These people are just, to me, very irresponsible and have no self-integrity. They succumb so easily to the urge of telling others what we have entrusted to them. Why do they betray our trust?! Maybe they think that the matter entrusted to them is so small and insignificant that it can be told to everybody, or they like to use whatever they have as gossiping topics or maybe it is just in their blood to betray others?! I guess we will never know what is in their mind. Even if the matter is small and insignificant to them, but they have forgotten that the matter is ours in the first place, thus it is not up to them to decide whether it is small or important, right?!

There are always people who can't be trusted, but they are very hard to identify. Thus, we should always be cautious. Coz the feeling of being betrayed is not something we would like to live with. Recently, among the new people that I've met, I've identify a few whom can't be trusted. But looking at the bright side, it was really a small matter which I'd share with them, so, I'm considered lucky!!! Coz a small matter entrusted to them, revealed their true ugly identity.

How about you guys?! Do you know who around you can be or can't be trusted?!

Well, err... It was a very funny outing. After they had lunch, we went to Aquaria as that was the initial plan when they were on the bus approaching KL. But after walking all the way to the Aquaria thru the Concorde and they ended up playing "Rock Scissor Paper" to decide whether to go in or not?! LOL~~~ It was real funny to see them do that... It was kYi against KC, well, kYi won, so we left Aquaria out to the KLCC Park.

Had a walk at the children's play ground!! Ya!! That's not a typo, I really meant CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND!!! LOL!!! And I caught some very interesting video's which you guys would want to have a look.. hehe...

I caught JC aka krOx playing with the 'Spring Frog' (there's a spring under it, and u just need to shake and shake all the time)

All of a sudden, krOx was missing, then I noticed him playing with the swing, so I tried to catch a video of him on it, but then... hmmm...

WARNING: PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS ADVISED!!! 18SX CONTENT...

OMG!!! This was out of the blue!!! I saw krOx letting the frog do something to himself... Ewww...... The front portion of the video contain explicit scenes... Viewer's Discretion is Advised!!!

LOL~~~ Joking nia... Did anyone of you got high!? Sorry for the disappointment...

It wasn't much of an outing actually as kJin was feeling unwell, nonetheless it was a great time for me to actually meet Ah Leong, krOx and Kaichien for the first time... And I haven't seen both kYi and kJin for a long long time ady... And I finally was able to differentiate kJin fron kYi!!!! LOL~~~ So cool!!!!!

PS: Hope KJin is feeling better now...

Teachers are meant to be forgotten?!

While reading a blog just now, I suddenly recalled a conversation with my SPM Chemistry teacher a year back. Actually, she had been saying the same thing over and over again since the day I graduated from my secondary school completing SPM as the Top Student in my district. Hehe... Serious laa... Defeated my then future form 6 bio teacher's daughter... (She is an extremely intelligent and pretty girl!!! I must say she is THE MOST INTELLIGENT peer I have ever met, til to date, no one I know has ever surpass her brilliance, in fact, no one has ever come close!!!! If you know me, then you will know, I don't normally say somebody is clever)

Anyway, back to topic regarding my SPM Chem teacher's conversation. In my school, we always had this special system call Godchildren Programme or Umbrella Programme, where students are assigned to a teacher who will become their acting Godparents throughout their studies. My Chem teacher had many students under her. She was a very nice teacher. She was very caring to all of us and especially to her Godchildren. Every year, before the SPM exam, she will always handmake Wish Cards from fancy papers and color them and place a few chocolate candies with the card and pass it to all the students. By the way, the cards are not general cards, it is addressed specifically to each and every individual students. So every card is different. Imagine this, she has over 80 students per year taking exam!!! Besides teaching, she was very observant, and once noticing that a student may have some problem, she will privately ask to see the student to discuss their problems. She was always there and ready to help anyone.

When the students graduate from Secondary School and leave for universities, colleges or polytechnics. She noticed something. She noticed that no one remembers her. I graduated from SPM some years ago and every year, she will say the same thing, no one remembers her. No one contacted her after leaving school. Not a hello, not a SMS, not a call, not a letter. She was and still very sad. She said that I and another two were the only ones who still contact her and know who she is. She said she is not forcing anyone to remember her as their teacher, to respect her as their teacher, but she can't help but to think why students are so ungrateful. Everytime when this conversation starts, I can only tell her, maybe their university lives are busy and hectic, maybe they lost her contact, maybe they went overseas, maybe maybe... But I know in my heart, those are irrelevant, because, if you really want to contact somebody, you will in some way get to the person in the end. Moreover, all of her students return to our humble little town every year. So, where or what is the problem? I do understand her feelings, to have put in a lot of effort to teach us, to treat us sincerely and to guide us, yet she gets nothing in return, she is not asking for monetary or any form of presents in return, just a "Hi teacher, how are you" is what she is hopes for. It is even worse when all of her Godchildren have never contacted her before, not even once.

So, the next time when I return home and bump into her... What should I tell her?! Just accept it, students are ungrateful?! I've kind of ran out of explanations already...

PS: May Leng, Lucy, if you guys come here, do tell me your opinion, k, since both of you are teachers...

Group Work: A headache

Everyone of us has had some experience in carrying out projects either individually or as a group. The question arises - is doing a project in a group good?

Answer: Yea, a well organized group can actually complete a project faster (if not better in quality compared to individually done), as the work can be delegated among group members.

But the question is how often can you get yourself into a 'good' group?

Define 'good'?! Good as in the members are equally committed, dedicated, well aware of their priorities and responsibilities towards the group.

You see where I am heading to?

How often do you get into a group where most members are virtually ignorant about their roles in the group?

In such a group, the project will in the end be a work of only a few of the members instead of the entire group.

It's surprising to listen to the excuses some may give just to evade from the responsibilities delegated to them. This being common as they do not acknowledge the importance of the project. They will put their personal matter first, as in maybe, a casual badminton game, shopping, dinner, a movie, a chat or some very petty things. If lucky, you will still have one or two who sincerely want to complete the project with the best possible results. If not, I'm so sorry to say that you will just have to bear all the burden by yourself regardless of the number of group members you have.

I had this group once, a total of four including me. A 3 months project: A Study on Menopause. Immediately, we sat together to brainstorm on the general outline of the study. Instead, I got these in return "My English not good", "How to do? I got no idea at all", "Very hard laa, I really don't know how, you must help wan, ok"... Alright, bad signs... Nevermind, I gave some ideas. We all agreed to search individually first and meet up the next day to see whether those outlines were feasible.

Next day, waited... Not a single soul appeared at the rendezvous point... SMS were left unreplied...

A day after, bumped into everyone in class... I asked what happened last night?! "No credit reply SMS la", "Not feeling well la" & "Something cropped up la"... Ok ok... Found anything? Nope... No one found anything... same usual answers, hard to find, etc... Ok ok... All agreed to meet again later at library to find together... Up and down we went, searching for articles and books on menopause in Malaysia's second largest library after the National Library. While searching, can't stop noticing, two were talking about movies and nonsense already... Start to review the materials... Can't stop getting the irritating statements "How ah, so hard wan", "I really don't know how to do leh", "I dont understand leh"...

Alright... I had enough... Told everyone, to borrow the books and go home digest slowly first... Before that, I photocopied everything I needed... I quietly did the entire study by myself and produced the report... Checked and checked, edited and edited... Fine... Everything were up to my standards... Print out... Bind...

In the next class, a week after the project was given...

I asked "Madam, when can we pass up the project?"
Madam "Well, I gave you three months to do it, that should be sufficient enough right?"
I asked again "I meant, when is the earliest time we can pass it up?"
Madam (with the Mercedez E-Class look = o_O) "Tomorrow?!"
I asked again "How about today?"
Madam "Haha, you can if you want to"
From my beg I took out the report and place it on her desk in front of the class..
Madam with the O_O" look "I was kidding Teddy, where's your sense of humour?"
I answered "But I wasn't and I don't have a sense of humour when it comes to assignments entrusted to me"
Madam still O_O" "Ok, you are scaring me..."

Well, it is inevitable that you will be put into group to get something done. The most important thing is, all the group members should understand something, like it or not, you are all in a group and the work has to be done for the benefit of all. If the project fails, it's not just you or my problem only, but everyones'. Everyone will be paying the penalty.

The main point is, everyone must have some sense of responsibility, be considerate towards others and get the priorities straight. Get the project done, then you can do whatever you want thereafter... That's the simplest concept in a group work.

But of course, if you get a great group, doing the project will definitely be an enjoyable one... Unfortunately, I only had this privilege twice in my journey in education until now...

Being Top...

I recalled a conversation with Wanda about being Top.

We agreed that most people are eager to be the top. They will put in a lot of effort and time to be the top, not only to be successful, but to be the best among the rest.

It is not easy to be the Top. It takes a lot of effort, so much that sometimes, you will feel very tired, very frustrated when you notice your progress is not as fast as desired. Nonetheless, that need, that desire to be the best, is a great motivation for all of us to work extremely hard, untiringly to achieve our goal.

Sometimes, there are some people who wants to take the short cut to being the top. They don't want to put in that much effort as others, to take up so much time as others. So they may resort to unsrupulous means to getting to the top faster. Many people are hurt along the way, many others are removed from the path, seeds of hate will unknowingly be planted in many people who fall victim to such people who can't satisfy their hunger for success.

Now... for such power-fame thirsty people, when they have reached the top. What then?! Stop there?! That's it?! No...

It is difficult to reach the top... And it is harder to stay at the top... For these unethical people, being at the top will be more tedious than getting there. The only thing going through their brain at all times is - how to remove everyone who is a threat to their position...

Anyone new, with potential, with calibre, with strength will have to be dealt with at the earliest possible moment to ensure this people will not affect the position of those who want to continue to be at the top for a long long time.

Can you see how much stress this power hungry people have?! To be constantly coming up with cunning plans to push others down, so that they are secure at their positions.

But for what?! Fame and fortune?! But how many people will you hurt?! Does it matter to you that you've hurt someone?!

It's extremely hard for one to not have certain desires... And it is alright for us to pursue our desires... But then, we must always remember about ethics and moral values when pursuing them...

The Tallest Standing Buddha

I saw this documentary few months ago on Channelnews Asia and now finally I'm doing some reading up on it. As you can see, there are two standing Buddhas carved into the rocky mountains in Afghanistan. As the title says, the taller which was standing at 55 metres is actually the World's Tallest Standing Buddha, while the other is also standing at a height of 35 metres. These two Buddhas were carved into the mountain face around 1500 years ago! Can you imagine that!! When there were still no hi-tech machineries, cranes and tools, people have actually carved such majestic structures into the rocky mountain face. Even when you draw a picture on a piece of paper, you will be constantly checking whether all the lines are in the right place and whether the picture you're drawing actually comes alive. But, the buddhas, such large structures, without any coordinate determining devices, how were the architects & constructors able to know that they were carving the right spot, the right angle? A more interesting thing to know is that various rooms (meeting, quarters, etc) and balconies were also carved inside the mountain and thousands of monks can lived there.
In 2001, however, the Taliban Leader has ordered the statues to be destroyed!!! It is reported that the Taliban attempted to destroy the Buddhas using grenades, tanks and anti-aircraft missiles for around 20 days. But these did not cause as much damage to the structures as expected. The Buddha Statues were in the end blown up by specialists!! The Buddhas are not only significant as they play a religious role, but they are also a majestic heritage to the world community and the architectural arena. What a lost...
"During a March 13 interview for Japan's Mainichi Shimbun, Afghan Foreign Minister Wakil Ahmad Mutawakel stated that the destruction was anything but a retaliation against the international community for economic sanctions: "We are destroying the Buddha statues in accordance with Islamic law and it is purely a religious issue". "Wikipedia.

"In March 2001, according to Agence France Presse in Kabul, a decree declared, "Based on the verdict of the clerics and the decision of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Emirate (of Afghanistan) all the statues around Afghanistan must be destroyed. All the statues in the country should be destroyed because these statues have been used as idols and deities by the non-believers before. Only God, the Almighty, deserves to be worshiped, not anyone or anything else." Wikipedia.

There are so many religions around the world. So many followers for each. Each of the followers have their duty to carry out what their religion preached. They themselves have the right to practise what they believe. But, we can't deny that as there are so many different religions out there, so many teachings, we cannot live assuming that there are only one religion in the world, instead we must live in a way which respect each others' religion. We shouldn't practise our own religion to extreme that it is inconsiderate to others or even insulting in some extend.
I'm sure everyone agrees that to gain respect, you must first respect others. It applies to religion too. When you respect others' religion, you will generally get back the equal respect you gave towards your own religion.
I may be wrong, but I have not seen much of law protecting other religions like Buddhism. I really hope that the international community can take into consideration the existence of this religion and have law implemented to protect it along with the other many religions which are also not cleary protected by the law.

I will not answer questions!!!

As the title states, I will not answer any question pertaining to the topics which were taught by the idiot...

Sorry to say, you guys can say I'm selfish and whatever...

But it's more about not wanting to get insulted rather than being selfish...

As my mentioned in my previous post, I don't like answer questions and then being insulted...

You know how annoying it is to just answer one question and immediately get a response like:
1. But he didn't say wan wor.
2. Why your explanation different from his wan.
3. Are you sure ah? He said a different thing wor.
4. Are you saying he is wrong?
5. How can he be wrong? He is the lecturer leh.
6. If he is wrong, how can he graduate and got PhD somemore?
7. Eh, you really sure ah?
8. Why leh?! Can't be lah. That time he said...
9. He is the one that said that... rite?!
10. Real or not wan wor you?!

Helooo... You know how insulting and annoying it is to just use the fellow's name to dismiss my explanation?!?!

Terribly insulting you know!!!!

You think I give a darn about what the *&^%$ said?! If you can justify why you disagree with my explanation, then fine, I'm more than happy to tell you what I know... But for crying out loud!!! Do not use one moron's name to dismiss or doubt my explanation!!! Can you please use some common sense and justify it yourself from your own understanding?! Just because of one idiot said something, so my explanation doesn't stand?! Got like that wan?! SIGH!!!!!!!!

So, to avoid any future insults... I am officially declaring that no questions pertaining topics he taught will be entertained!!! Very sorry, but my own integrity is too important to be allowed to be easily insulted in such a way...

Medical mistakes inevitable

The parents of the baby whose arm was amputated is suing the government.
But the minister says Medical Mistakes Inevitable and don't understand why there is so much publicity over the issue.
The following is a news article (Source: NSTonline, 02/12/2007)

KUALA LUMPUR: Medical mistakes happen, no matter how careful the doctors are, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said yesterday.

"Even in the best hospitals in the world, mistakes still happen. In Malaysia, the rate is between three and five per cent, which is acceptable," he said after launching the National AIDS conference.

Chua said government hospitals treated about 39 million outpatients as well as some 1.9 million admissions each year.

"We can imagine that even in the best situations some mistakes will still happen." He said patients who were not satisfied with the services provided by government hospitals could lodge complaints.

"We give a guarantee that if there is a basis for a complaint, it will be investigated by a committee comprising experts from the private sector to increase their confidence. "In the case that happened in Klang, we don't understand why there was so much publicity.

"If they are not satisfied with our service, then why come to our hospital? They came on Nov 26. According to logic, if you don't have confidence in our doctors, then why come?"

He said the parents had to be rational."Whatever mistakes that happened, we have already admitted it publicly and apologised. We are sincere in doing what is best," he said.In the Klang case, a man is suing the government for RM2 million over a bungled hospital procedure that resulted in the amputation of his baby's forearm.
