不知他是睡;
月长是个胀,
月半是个胖,
太师秦夫人,
怀抱大肚在花园逛,
不知她是胀,
不知她是胖。

Money or Life?

As usual I boarded a bus to head for the island down South last week, but what was different was the bus driver. For the first time, it was an Indian uncle that I've never seen before.

The first thing when he saw me, he said "Going to S'pore?".

I smiled and nodded.

Driver "Study?"...

Me "Working"

Driver "Oh, haha... you like it there?"

Me "Naa... I'm happier working in Malaysia, people here are friendlier"

Driver "hahaha, I see, I see... Well, before this, I was in S'pore too, for SEVEN LONG YEARS!! I was driving bus over there, but I just gave up!!! I couldn't handle it... There was basically no life at all!"

Me "Really? What you mean? The pay wasn't good?"

Driver "Well, the pay was great, I got $2400 per month which is easily RM5000 over here, but then money is just money laa, it's not everything you know... I had to leave my house at 3am & drive down to JB, then leave my car at my friend's house then take his motorbike across the causeway to the bus station to work. I reach S'pore around 4.30, 5am like that. Then at the end of the day, I come home at around 9pm, then the next day the same thing again"

Driver "You have no idea how tiring it is, you know, you get what I'm saying? Money is just money la, but then, aiyoo, I just couldn't take it laa, that's why I'm here now. I'm happy with this even though the pay is much lower."

That was the conversation that I had with the bus driver. By the way, to let you guys know, when I came back on Friday night, I boarded the same bus driven by this uncle in CS to come home. LOL~~ What a coincident huh!!

To him, between Money and Life, the Indian uncle driver chose Life instead of money. What would you choose? Looking at the number of people who travel over to Singapore everyday to work. It is obvious many do so because the pay there is much higher than what is offered in Malaysia, since the currency is double of the ringgit. So I guess these people are sacrificing their lives for the sake of earning more money.

But for you, would you do the same?

Before some of you hop in and say "Well, I want to earn more money to make my living more comfortable".. Then, I would like you to ask yourself before saying that, whether you are just using that as an excuse to get the money?! hehe.. get what I mean.. Many people nowadays, keep saying, I'm doing this for my children, for my family, for this, for that, but in reality, is it true? Are they just using all this excuses as a noble reason to get the money, to satisfy their thirst for money? Only they themselves know the real answer..

How about you? Do you know your answer?
